Detective Box - Joe Guarini
Detective Box by Joe
GuariniIt’s hard to categorize this puzzle box / sequential
discovery / escape game by Joe Guarini.
But it’s beautifully made, and is a multi-step puzzle with some very
unique tools/steps. My partner and I
play many “home escape games,” and the Detective Box was definitely amenable to
a team solve. The use of electronic
components allowed some steps that were unlike anything we’ve seen in other
puzzles/games. Please see the great
review from fivesi...

Piano Box - Jean Claude Constantin
Piano Box by Jean
Claude ConstantinSequential discovery puzzle box from Constantin. Several steps to open, with tools. I thought this was one of the more fun SD
puzzle boxes from Constantin, and the piano theme looks great. This box has been solved quite a few times, as I enjoyed the
solve and we also liked sharing this one with guests. It’s in great condition though… there are no
major scuffs or marks to the wood. The
metal pins/screws show a little wear from use but no scratche...

The Castle (#5/99) - Joshua Hoogerwerf
The Castle by Joshua
Hoogerwerf (aka PrintedTech)Sequential discovery puzzle box requiring about 15 steps,
with tools, to get into the secret compartment and find the “prize.” This puzzle has the most steps compared to
the other SD puzzles that I’ve listed this time. It wasn’t overly difficult though… it’s
suggested to take 35-45 minutes to solve, and that’s about right. I thought the solve was fun with diverse
steps, nothing too blind, and a bunch of tools/pieces that p...

selling a few of these older, discontinued metal Bits and Pieces take apart or

Chubby Crocodile
Mark on tail, please see photo. Doesn’t affect solveDescription from pluredro:Find treats in the stomach of the chubby crocodile! We have produced a total of five kinds of stomach contents of this wild reptile and hid one or two of them in his belly. The puzzle is a bit tricky to categorize but since it has an internal cavity, we can at least call it a puzzle box. Juno's initial idea of the puzzle was a burr or kumiki and its motif was a tortoise, and realizing it was a bit too skinny, he decid...

Blah Box (black limba)
Description from CubicDissection:Blah Box is the result of the accumulation of ideas I had while trying to design a simple mechanism for the box containing the DDD Burr Puzzle. I wanted to make a simple trick opening mechanism for DDD, but in the end, discarded the idea because it would overly increase the price of the puzzle. I did come out of the design session with some solid ideas, which, when combined, turned into a rather interesting box on their own. I was feeling rather "Blah" about my f...

Blind Box by Diniar Namdarian
The BlindBox sliding puzzle box is 3D printed by Diniar Namdarian and ships disassembled. It comes with extra slider pieces for additional challenges. In all, there are 15 possible assemblies and combinations for which to set up the box. Which allows for a lot of play time. The design is a rather simplistic idea. Although, as you work through the challenges it becomes more or less difficult. There’s no rhyme or reason. Even the initial challenge of assembling the box is a puzzle in and of itse...

Fairy Door
This is Michael Toulouzas' Fairy Door. I ordered it about 2014 and received it around 2019. It's a discovery puzzle, finding tools to procede further, and I quite enjoyed solving it. However, I tend to keep my house at about 65 degrees most of the time, and this box definitely prefers about 70 degrees if you want it to open. At 65 degrees F, the main latch mechanism binds up so it won't open up. This isn't a defect, it's just a characteristic of the woods used in making the puzzle. It's a beaut...

His & Hers by Matt Taylor
His & Hers is a wonderful SD puzzle created by the imaginative Matt Taylor where the goal is to "Open the box. Open the boxes. Discover the key to open the lock".It's a very creative puzzle with plenty of tricks which kept me stumped for a good while and I enjoyed examining the puzzling mechanisms after the solve to see how everything was crafted.Matt is still new and learning how to work with woods (and metals and magnets!), but he has ingeniously used what he had to make a compelling journey i...

Mystery Trapper by Tracy Clemons
Mystery Trapper is an unusual SD with a whooping 60 steps and numerous tools to be used in solving the mystery within the foxy box. There are three stages with an unusual twist at the ending.Tracy has made a complex puzzle which will take days to weeks to solve. For anyone who doesn't want to buy the puzzle, but would love to see what it's like, Tanner made a solve video using my very own copy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egPkCkYgs3Y&feature=youtu.beA tiny bolt came loose and I had to g...

Portal by Dee Dixon
The cake is a lie! Don't eat it whatever you d-.... whoops wrong puzzle game!Unlike GlaDOS in Portal, Dee's Portal actually delivers on its promise for a fun time and a journey of mystery. It's a tricky puzzle with blind elements and tools that need to be discovered to open the box so you can then marvel at the mechanisms Dee brilliantly designed. However, this puzzle isn't in perfect shape due to a blunder I made when solving. I assumed one of the knobs would twist right off and used too much fo...
