Peg puzzle made in Argentina may be from the 1950s or '60s. Inside cover shows 2 puzzles, in Spanish: Estrella Oriental, and Retiro 31. A typed instruction sheet in English is included--this probably was done by a previous owner and not the company. The 3/4" thick heavy cardboard, two-sided board comes out of the box and has a puzzle on each side. The Oriental Star puzzle (shown here only in the photo of the box cover) requires putting 9 pegs into the 10-hole base one at a time, counting 3 space...

70 YEAR OLD Sherms puzzle card
The "8 Point Puzzle" is Sherms' version of the classic "Star" puzzle, in which one has to slide coins (or similar objects) from one unoccupied point to another of an 8-pointed star. (The instructions are on the back of the card, as seen in the second illustration.) This puzzle card came from an incomplete set of Sherms puzzles, likely from the 50s, but I'm listing it because it is in PRISTINE condition. I will ship within the US as a first class letter for around $3.00. I am happy to ship...

L'éTé, antique French version of the classic "T" puzzle
French antique puzzles from the 1850-1930 time frame are famed for the beautiful illustrations on their cardboard box covers. "L'éTé" ("The T") is none other than the classic 4-piece "T" puzzle. The object of the puzzle is to arrange the four wooden pieces to form the letter T. The puzzle is likely from the early 1900's; the manufacturer, N.K. Atlas, was in operation from 1900 - 1925. "L'éTé" is in very good condition. One corner of the box lid is starting to show a split; the c...

For COLLECTORS only! Dime Store Classic!
EVERYONE knows the 5-piece square puzzle. Well, here is a British dime store (twopenny-halfpenny store?) version from the '50's or '60's (no later than 1965), "Five Block Puzzle," one of dozens of novelty items produced by the E&S Novelty Company. There is something appealing about the "kitchyness" of the presentation of the puzzle; collectible much more for the packaging and presentation as opposed to the puzzle. If you want a 50+ year old example of how a classic puzzle made it into popu...
