Stewart Coffin's Diagonal Cube #58. This has been a fun one to make, though it's fairly labor intensive. As with most of Stewart's creations, it assembles in two halves. Each side is then truncated to produce a cubic form. Mixing up the pieces and walking away for a while provides an adequate challenge for assembly. Gears was an exchange puzzle from the brilliant Iwahiro! The goal is to place all of the pieces into the frame using only sliding and rotating motions. Two gears are fixed to the frame and the rest must make it inside the case such that the flap at the opening of the case may be completely shut. This is John Rausch's New Melting Block puzzle. The seven-piece solution seems to fill the box entirely, with little room to spare. The leftover block seems far too large to fit in the box...yet somehow, impossibly, the eighth piece does fit when the second solution is discovered.
