Matador by Ken Irvine
Ken Irvine is one of the best designers out there, and Matador is one of his Turning Interlocking Cubes series. The five piece puzzle has a tricky level 4.10 solution with some very unusual movements. The pieces interlock almost like rings or chain pieces, and the "ah-ha" is a very fun one indeed.Construction of this puzzle is excellent, with our usual precise yet easily moved fit we use for cubes. This puzzle is shipped assembled. For multiple items, combined shipping is available. Simply messag...

3 Cubes by Kohno Ichiro 1st edition
Three Cubes is an award-winning design, having placed in the 2018 IPP Design Competition. The three identical pieces must be assembled to form three solid cubes. This apparently simple task is complicated by the addition of magnets on each face, whose polarity significantly impacts the process. Very fun, and pocket-sized as well! This puzzle is shipped disassembled. This puzzle is from the first edition of Three Cubes from August 2019, the edges have a slightly different bevel to them. For multiple...

Knotted Burr by Noah Prettyman
Noah Prettyman designed this wonderful new burr puzzle with the intention to recreate the standard six piece burr shape using puzzle cube type pieces. A very unique idea, and a successful one given the unique level 6.3 solution. Knotted burr is a lot of fun to solve and is quite difficult despite its reasonable seeming number of moves. I'm looking forward to whatever he comes up with next! This puzzle is shipped assembled. For multiple items, combined shipping is available. Simply message me once ...

Padlock Burr by Tim Alkema
I've seen several designs lately with burr puzzles conspiring to look like other objects...a sword, an elephant...some weirdo even made one that looked like a chicken! But in my mind, none is as apropos as a padlock, so I jumped on the chance to make the Padlock Burr when it came around. Six mostly standard looking pieces interlock within the lock base for a unique and quite tricky level 24.2.8 solution. Lots of fun, and it looks cool too. I also came up with an entire new joint to make the padl...

Bill's Ball Bearing Burr by Bill Cutler
Bill's Ball bearing burr is one of my all-time favorite interlocking puzzles. The normal six-piece assembly is further complicated by the addition of two stainless ball bearings which must be placed in the correct location before assembly. The bearings are then released once the puzzle is assembled, and the solver must figure out how to maneuver them in order to disassemble the puzzle. A very unique concept and a must-have for your collection!Fit and finish is excellent with this puzzle, which w...

Sweet 16 by Jack Krijnen
I've been on a bit of a complex burr tear lately. It started with the Fusion series and went from there. I was able to aquire a large amount of choice Walnut, maple and cherry, and so I've been able to keep the woods consistant and make almost a kind of set of interesting and non-conventional burrs. This update includes the last few of those puzzles, all of which should compliment each other very well on the shelf. Needless to say, they all challenge the mind as well!Sweet Sixteen is a very tric...

Aquarius by Stéphane Chomine
Aquarius is a seemingly simple puzzle with a real surprise. Two burr pieces and a small slider interact with the ribbed cage to create an unexpectedly high level 17.9.3 solution. Disassembly is moderately difficult but reassmebly gets hairy quick! A great challange for the experienced puzzler.Beautifuly constructed from solid milled pieces, this puzzle is made to last. The cage uses milled slots for strength and precision, and the spalted maple is beautiful against the striped wenge grain. This ...

Cubic Burr by Tom Jolly unique woods
I really liked Tom's Cubic Burr 6.9 design, and when I messaged him he said he thought he could do even better. So he went back to the drawing board and came up with an iteration that has a level 5.8.8 solution. Eight moves to get the *third* piece out...this one's tough but doable! Lots of fun movement and overall a great, fun puzzle. Contrast between the Sapele and Ash gives the solver a hint on piece location, as well as making it really pop on the shelf.Construction of this puzzle is outstan...

Fusion by Logan Kleinwaks
If you like solving one six piece burr, how about two at the same time! With a difficult level 18.6.3 solution, this puzzle is not for lightweights! Tricky and entertaining, and displays very well once solved. Three different woods used for aesthetics and also to give the solver a chance (this puzzle would be exponentially more difficult in solid wood). Logan also designed a four by four burr which I will make available in the next update. This puzzle is shipped assembled. For multiple items, comb...

Triaxe by Stéphane Chomine
Stephane has been coming out with a lot of new designs lately, and it was tough to pick which I liked the best. I found the geometry of the cage and internal pieces very pleasing, and the fact that Triaxe is a difficult level 24 solution didn't hurt. With only three pieces it's not impossible, but this is definitely an advanced puzzle. Lots of movement and lots of dead ends. Lucky for you I'm shipping it assembled! The construction of this puzzle took a while. Pieces are very strong with through ...

Leftovers #3 by László Molnár
This is the third of the Leftovers design by Laszlo. It uses different pieces and different moves than the other two and is a solid addition to the collection of any interlocking puzzle fans. Of course non-linear moves are required, and finding the proper orientation and order of assembly is a fun process. Not devestatingly difficult, but then again not all great designs are!Construction of this puzzle is very good, with strong side glued joints and solid wood components. This puzzle is shipped a...

Galaxy One by Aleksandr Leontev
Aleksandr has been coming up with some unique dsigns lately, and since we here at cubicdissection like to be trendy, we decided to get on the bandwagon and make some of them. His "Galaxy" series really caught my eye with its non-traditional shape and interesting movements. While Galaxy 1 is only level 4, it's tricker than you think due to all the horizontal pieces being the same wood. The solver knows that the pure white holly piece is centered vertically, but arranging the marblewood pieces in ...

Galaxy Two by Aleksandr Leontev
This second iteration in the Galaxy series has a very different solution than Galaxy one, upping the ante with a level 7 solution. Movement is expansive since it goes largely in the opposite direction that Galaxy 1 did. The solver faces the same conundrum they did with Galaxy one, being easily able to identify the vertical pieces yet arranging the marblewood pieces in the spiral shape remains the challenge. As before, I had to charge a bit more for this puzzle because of the expensive woods used...

Inaccurate Burr by Junichi Yananose
It's not easy to come up with a new variation on the traditional six piece burr, but Juno came up with a great one! Because pairs of two pieces are off-centered, the assembled shape of the puzzle looks inaccurate though the pieces need to be accurate. The puzzle is based on one of the notchable sets of a level 9 combination. Thanks to the off-centered pieces the puzzle has unique solution and is very confusing to assemble! This puzzle is shipped assembled. For multiple items, combined shipping is ...

Pocket Pento by Jerry Loo
I like *some* packing puzzles, and this one made the cut. It's a set of pentominos and a simple box, yet there is only ONE solution to packing them all in. A truly extraordinary achievement! I interpreted this one with a lot of panache, using 12 different woods for the pieces (Canary, Bubinga, Yellowheart, Peruvian Walnut, Paduak, Wenge, Shedue, Mahogany, Ipe, Bocote, Cherry, Ash). The tolerances are very precise, and this puzzle may be a bit tight at first in highly humid situations. Over time ...

Just Three is from the brilliant mind of young prodigy Noah Prettyman. The level 8.4 solution is quite tricky for an interlocking burr with only three pieces. Burr Bones by Frank Potts
Frank's designs can be few and far in between, but are generally worth waiting for. "Burr Bones" is no exception. This three piece devil is a crafty level 24 solution with TONS of dead ends and trickiness. The skeletonized traditional three piece shape looks stunning in contrasting woods, and the completed puzzle is surprisingly stable.Like many of Frank's designs, this was not an easy puzzle to make. A ton of milling and gluing went into this puzzle but it was worth it! Fit is extremely precise...

Double Cross by Stewart Coffin
Double Cross was Tom Rodgers exchange puzzle at IPP 29 in San Francisco. Designated #240 by Stewart Coffin, it looks fairly simple with six thicker sticks intersected by six thinner sticks. Solving it is anything but, as the angles are very confusing and you always end up with that one piece that won't fit. I'm delighted with this puzzle, it's a heck of a lot of fun. Difficult enough to challenge an experienced puzzler while simple enough to be enjoyed by a novice.Construction of this puzzle too...
