Description

Coming of Age MkII, designed by Brian Young (Mr Puzzle)

This 18-piece burr takes 19 moves to remove the first piece.  Apparently there is another difficult assembly that can be made from the same pieces.  From the mrpuzzle website:

"In 1953 Willem L van der Poel, a leading Dutch computer scientist, set out to design a puzzle with as many interlocking pieces as possible and came up with an 18 piece burr that took 4 moves to get the second last piece in and 3 more for the last piece.

In 1997 Mr Puzzle changed the burr to create a puzzle with 5 moves to get the last piece in. In 1999 he came up with this version which takes 19 moves to get the first piece out!

This puzzle was designed by Brian (alias Mr Puzzle) without the use of a computer. It was however analysed using a computer program by Andreas Röver (see the end of this detail page) and he found an even more difficult assembly of the puzzle, being a level 14.10.3.2.5.11.10. That makes 65 moves for complete disassembly."

Buyer is responsible for shipping which should be less than $10-12 for small puzzles (within USA, first-class).  Priority mail (and heavier items, such as the glass puzzles) might be $3 to $6 more.  I charge only exact shipping costs.  Please contact me if you need an estimate for international shipping.  If you wish to estimate shipping costs yourself, most of my listed puzzles should weigh less than 16 ounces (450 grams).  Typically, first-class international is under $18 for up to 8 ounces, and $25-28 for up to 16 ounces.  I will combine multiple items for more cost-effective shipping--I have listed some dexterity, Toyo glass, Pelikan, Juno, and Boucher puzzles this time.  Most starting prices are well under retail, except for some of the recent Pelikan/Juno releases.

I can accept payments via Paypal, Zelle, or Transferwise (Wise).  There will be no additional packaging or handling fees.

I try to grade condition conservatively.  If the puzzle shows any sign of wear from use, it'll be a B or lower. If the puzzle looks like it did when I received it new (barring any defects), it will be graded A.  Where useful, I've tried to take photos of the puzzles under different lighting conditions.  All puzzles are kept in a smoke-free home maintained at 45-55% humidity.
