Description
This burr-like puzzle was discovered by the Dutch computer pioneer Willem van der Poel during a lecture tour in Glasgow Scotland, while visiting the great Scottish mathematician and puzzle enthusiast Thomas O'Bierne. Willem decided to use this design as his exchange puzzle at IPP21 held in Tokyo in 2001, as a tribute to O'Beirne. This puzzle is unusual among burr puzzles in that it involves eight pieces, not six, and it has no holes, making it rather tricky to assemble.
The puzzle is as received at IPP21 in 2001, in it's original plastic bag with instruction sheet. I will include a copy of the solution from the IPP21 exchange booklet.
I will ship within the US at insured priority mail pricing (from between
$8.70 and 9.45, depending on postal code), or via first class mail for around $6.00, if preferred. I am happy to ship
internationally at cost, but I cannot always guarantee that overseas
packages can be insured or tracked.
