Description
Before TICs (Turning Interlocking Cubes) were even a thing Ken Irvine made his mark designing cubic puzzles requiring devious rotations to solve. Unlike many of this genre where things are tight and it's hard to figure out how to squeeze a piece in where it needs to go, Matador's pieces are rather open and fit together in ways that permit lots of movement. The key steps in the 4.10 solution are hiding in plain sight, awaiting the solver's wonderful aha moments that take you from one apparent impasse to the next stage of befuddlement. It is slightly bigger than many of the TICs that have appeared in recent days, giving off highly satisfying clunks as pieces easily slide past each other only to clunk into some other piece. Only 44 copies made. Given the popularity of TICs I'd much rather someone new experience this delightful puzzle rather than leaving it unloved on a shelf.
