The object is to get the 3 black balls to one side and the 3 red balls to the other side, which of course is difficult or impossible since the balls from one side will move to the other side when you tilt the puzzle. This cardboard box contains a heavy wood put-together puzzle from the 1960s (could be '70s). 16 long, wavy strips of wood fit together to from a rectangular block 6" x 3" x 2".
