Soma Ultimate was designed by Volker Latussek & Oskar van Deventer, 15 October 2022Soma Ultimate (a.k.a. Missing Soma) is the ultimate difficult Soma-Cube packing problem. Volker Latussek came up with the idea of having holes in the cage that don't match with the square grid. After four prototypes, this was the selected design. The design has one 2x2 hole, half-folded over a cage edge, and another half hole at a side (Oskar’s intellectual contribution). The puzzle requires many rotations. This puzzle is so hard, that many people cannot get all pieces out from the solved state, let alone put them back in, especially if you don't know where the pieces go.The puzzle was used as Oskar’s exchange gift for International Puzzle Party Jerusalem 2023.The puzzle took nearly 12 hours to 3D print on a Dutchy 3D printer. 31 meter of 1.75-mm PLA filament was used to print it. The puzzle weights 92 gram. Ships in an unsolved state. Solution image included.
