Coffin describes this as a simple puzzle that looks like the class six-piece diagonal burr, when you try to take it apart by the usual way of pulling on two opposite pieces nothing happens. He describes it as a novelty or practical joke saying "For more fun it can be expanded in all directions to almost the point of collapse"
