Description
This is a 6-piece level 8 burr. All 6 pieces are identical, and they (obviously) fit together to make the object in the picture. This is very small (about 1.5") and laser cut by Walter Hoppe. It weighs about 1/2 ounce. There have only been 2 of this puzzle made (prototype for a slightly nastier puzzle). Fairly difficult to assemble (I had to refer to the instructions myself) once taken apart.
This is technically a "board burr" since all the pieces are flat with no projections. The 6 boards are 3/8" thick. When you pick it up, the pairs of pieces on one plane can slide apart along any of the 3 axes since all the pieces are the same, so it first appears to nearly fall apart - in fact it can be expanded out on all three axes without any danger of coming apart by accident. It does create a "floppy feel" to the puzzle, though.
