Description

17 never- or slightly-used Exchange Puzzles from the 38th International Puzzle Party, held in San Diego California in 2018. The puzzles are extremely varied in their classifications. Exchangers include the likes of perennial and prominent Puzzle Exchange participants Oskar van Deventer, Wei-Hwa Huang, Marcel Gillen, Jerry Loo, the great Serhiy Grabarchik, Allard Walker, and George Bell, among others. Brief descriptions follow, but I am DELIGHTED to answer more specific questions about any of the puzzles. Note that all would be graded

and some have never been removed from their packaging.

PUZZLE DESCRIPTIONS:

Photo 1 Row 1:
San Diego — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by prolific puzzle designer and annual Exchange participant Marcel Gillen; goal is to fit all of the letters S-A-N-D-I-E-G-O plus two additional pieces into the frame.
D-Gram — designed and exchanged by the great puzzle designer and puzzle book author Serhiy Grabarchik, made by prolific puzzle manufacturer Kadon Enterprises (Kate Jones); use the seven reversible tiles to solve a variety of challenges.
Pyradox — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by annual Exchange participant George Bell; goal is to use all five polysphere pieces to build a pyramid on each of three bases.
The Wall — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by long-time Exchange participant James Kerley; put the 35 hexomino pieces into the frame in five levels such that the geometric cut-outs align on each level.

Tight Test — designed and exchanged by long-time Exchange participant Dor Tietz, manufactured by Gaya Games; fit the 8 pairs of pegs into the 4x4 board in a checkered pattern,such that all of the connecting strings are taught.
Mischief — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by perennial Exchange participant and puzzle manufacturer Jerry Loo; a folding puzzle handkerchief.
Outnumbered — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by New Zealand puzzle shop owner and annual Exchange participant Louis Toorenburg; 40 challenges to place the 16 magnetic tiles on the 4x4 grid such that none of the numbers or colors touch the same numbers or colors.

Decodable Coasters — designed by the enigmatic Roy Leban and genius and perennial Exchange participant Wei-Hwa Huang, exchanged, and manufactured by Wei-Hwa; stack the cork coasters in order to reveal a 3-word phrase.
Wicked Windows — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by long-time Puzzle Party attendee Andy Manvell; assemble the 12 mahogany pieces to form a cube.

Photo 2 Row 1:
B. Dorstron Puzzle 2018 — based on a U.S. 1906 patent, exchanged by prominent Exchange participant Allard Walker, and manufactured by the prolific Robrecht Louage; remove and then replace the ring from/across the center of the spoked disks.
THE San Diego Puzzle — based on two separate antique puzzles, exchanged by 9-time Exchange participant Michael Tanoff, and manufactured by Creative Crafthouse; assemble the 5 maple pieces to form the letter "S"; assemble the 6 walnut pieces to form the letter "D".

Photo 2 Row 2:
Black and White Anti-Slide — designed by the prolific puzzle designer Volker Latussek, exchanged by Stefan Garcia, and produced by prominent puzzle manufacturer Rombol; several anti-slide packing puzzles.
Turn Over mini IPP version — designed by Fujio Adachi, exchanged by annual Exchange participant Tsugumitsu Noji, and manufactured by long-time puzzle purveyor Naoyki Iwase (Osho); 5 challenges to turn over all of the pieces through a combination of sliding and "flying."

Photo 2 Row 3:
Two + One — a posthumous exchange from long-time Exchange participant Abel Garcia, designed by the prolific puzzle designer Volker Latussek, and manufactured by popular Exchange puzzle maker Vinco Obsivac; goal is to pack the pieces such that the cube and bi-cube touch, and then repack the pieces such that the cube and bi-cube DON'T touch .
Ring Bracelet — designed and exchanged by the famous Oskar and manufactured by i.materialise; scramble, wear as a bracelet, and then reassemble back into a ring.
38 = 12 — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by popular annual Exchange participant Kate Jones (Kadon Enterprises); cover the characters SANDIEGO2018 with the 12 pentominoes — one pentomino per character — with a perimeter of 38 units.
Plumber's Nightmare — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by the late great long-time Exchange participant Lambert Bright; free the entangled plumber from the pipes.

Note that all puzzles come as received at IPP38 with original packaging and information. Some of the puzzles come with solutions. For those that don't, I'm happy to email specific solutions from the IPP38 book to the successful bidder.

The combined weight of the puzzles is about 6 lbs (2.7 kg). I will ship within the US at tracked priority mail pricing for between approx. $16 and $32, depending on postal code, or via ground advantage (first class mail) for between approx. $12 and $21, depending on postal code. Regrettably, first class international mail is very expensive at this weight, costing around $100 depending on country, and I cannot always guarantee that overseas packages can be insured or tracked. Please do not sent payment until postage cost is determined. Note, sadly, that tariff wars may be in effect for packages received in certain countries.
