From Jesse's website:
The Rattler's Tail came about initially as a unique puzzle concept that fit a rattler snake theme. Slowly over time the nature of the box "discovered itself" as we added and subtracted mechanisms. Finally the puzzle arrived at something we are very happy to produce, though not without its technical difficulties.
Difficulty: Medium
Limited edition size: 300.
This will be the only edition ever produced.

In my own estimation, this is a stellar puzzle with excellent theming. The story, the feel and the look of the puzzle all share a wonderful cohesion.
The solve is a fabulous journey that makes you feel like you're hunting for a legendary treasure.

A bit about the construction, from that review: "The object is crafted from solid Wenge, and features carvings of Ipe, with Paduak accents, a Becote interior, and a “dash” of Katalox. There are a few copper and hidden PLA parts, and a real circa 1880s Indian penny. The box is slightly larger than two packs of playing cards, with finely detailed carvings of real places all over. It is sturdy, finely figured, unusual and so interesting, with a nice heft and weight."
