“The Flag”
This puzzle is a exchange puzzle by Tom Rodgers Jr. for the International Puzzle Party 25 held in Helsinki, Finland 2005
Objective / Description:
The object of this sliding block puzzle is to rearrange the Finnish flag to its proper design, and at the same time for the puzzle party line to read IPP 25 (not 25 IPP).
About the puzzle:
The shortest sequence has 39 steps, if the goal is fixed as in the goal picture. If, however, the restriction of having “IPP 25” read at the top (the written objective does NOT require this), there exists a solution with fewer (37) moves. (Thanks to Nick Baxter for analyzing the puzzle)
