Description

Even among the brilliant puzzles coming from the mind of Osanori Yamamoto, this one stands out for its exceptional originality. Like most of his puzzles there aren't many pieces to distract you - just 3 and a frame. All you see initially is a disk that slides around between 2 sandwich plates. Occasionally one of the 2 other pieces will break the pretty checkerboard-ish flat surfaces that make up the faces of the sandwich by dropping down, but not by as much as you'd like. What is holding that disk in? What on Earth are the other two pieces doing? Is there really a way to take it apart and free the disk? This is not one of Yamamoto's packing puzzles, it's unlike any puzzle he's ever made while still reflecting his fiendish ability to meld simplicity and complexity in a puzzle that will stump you, aggravate you, until it finally clicks what must be going on and unveils it's elegance and simplicity. I clearly love this puzzle. I'm selling it because it's just sitting in a display cabinet and not getting the love it deserves.
