Description
IPP16 exchange puzzle from Laurie Brokenshire.
Designed and made by Kevin Holmes
"The puzzle comprises a 'kit' of ten wooden shapes, each made from a prism 1/2 cube of mahogany and a square 1/2 cbe of sycamore. These 1/2 cubes are joined together to create a mathematically complete set of ten, different whole cube columes.
1. Select the different sets of eight shapes and assmble then into 2x2x2 cubes, then 4x2x1 cuboids and then 3x3x1 cuboids with a cubic space in their centre or at one corner
2. For an easier range of puzzle, try sets of four shapes to make 2x2x1 cuboids, six to make 3x2x1, nine to make 3x3x1, and finally all ten to form 5x2x1 blocks or 4x3x1 blocks with the central two cubes vacant.
3. What other interesting mathematical or architectural shapes can you create? For example, build a free-standing 'L' for Laurie letter four cubes high, two cubes wide and two cubes deep. Above all, have fun!"
Puzzle comes with original instructions in a polybag.
