Scorpius (The Spider Slider) is a famous Stewart Coffin design, described in Stewart's classic The Puzzling World Of Polyhedral Dissections. This copy was manufactured by and used by perennial IPP Puzzle Exchange participant Allen Rolfs as his exchange puzzle at IPP20, held in Los Angeles in 2000. The puzzle is made from four beautifully contrasting woods — walnut, maple, oak, and paduk — and consists of 24 sticks of 30°-60°-90° triangular stock, joined into 6 groups of four contrasting sticks. When assembled CORRECTLY, mutually parallel arms are of the same wood.
Scorpius comes assembled as received at IPP20 with its original instruction sheet. I will be happy to supply a copy of the solution to Scorpius from the IPP20 booklet, to the winning bidder.
I will ship within the US via ground advantage (first class mail) for around $7.00, or if preferred, at
insured priority mail pricing
(from between
$9.90 and $14.25, depending on postal code). I am happy
to ship
internationally at cost --- expected to be around $30 for an item this size --- but I cannot always guarantee that overseas
packages can be insured or tracked.
Please let me know if you have any questions about Scorpius.
