Description

"Rockeman" was Eric Fuller's 2019 IPP Design Competition Entry.  It was designed after Eric completed work on a couple angled stick Coffin Designs, and found a new shape using the same geometry.  


Because this shape uses more pieces in fewer axes than usual in puzzles of this style, it was very challenging to come up with a unique piece set.  Most of these types of puzzles are an assembly of pieces made with two full length subcomponents.  Rocketman uses new, unique piece constraints to create pieces with multiple components and half length elements.  The end result is a puzzle with coordinate motion, serial interlock and a single unique solution.

This a very difficult and confusing puzzle.  Of the four copies made, three of them were realized in mixed woods to give the solver hints as to which pieces belong on which axis.

Only four copies were ever made, and three are offered for sale.  The fourth shall remain in Eric's collection.  Eric intended this puzzle to be a rarity, with only these copies made for the design competition.  No more will be made in the future.

These puzzles are extras and oddballs that have accumulated in the shop.  Sometimes when we make a run of puzzles we will have a few with different woods, etc. which are too much trouble to list individually on the website.  These puzzles are all in new condition and fully functional.
