Neat Lock
Neat Lock was my exchange puzzle at IPP in 2003. It uses a clever trick from a 19thC lock in my collection. Mr Splichal who made the locks has now asked me to auction for him one of the first two prototypes (he does not speak English). I had the other early prototype and it is now in the good and fast-solving hands of Eric Marks - see http://heavymetalpuzzles.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/ipp-trick-padlocks.html. The lock is fully functional and has a nicer key than the final product, but has only a s...

Binary Pin Burr
This 25 piece puzzle utilizes 4
pin mazes on the key piece along with four moving pin pieces to create a 4 bit binary
numerical sequence (not gray code). Other Binary puzzles use Gray Code where only one piece moves at a time for each step, with Binary sometimes multiple pieces need to move for a step. 45 moves to remove the key piece. It was entered into the IPP35 Design Competition. Only 7 were made. A neat design but due to too many time consuming machine setups these will not be made a...

Tornado Burr
"This ingenious burr was designed by Junichi in May 2007 with "head and hands; no computer". Junichi had the idea for a multiple rotational movement but did not get to finally apply it to a puzzle until he came up with the Tornado Burr.People often ask puzzle designers "What was going on in your head to design this puzzle?" What was going on in Junichi's head when he designed the Tornado Burr? Visualising things going up and down and back and forth at the same time is one thing, but things going...

Four piece Burr Cube
This clever puzzle shows major design chops. Using four identical, simple pieces and a cage, Yamamoto created a level 9.2.5 beauty with only one solution. Fun to solve, a nice half hour challenge for the serious puzzler. The top and bottom is made from mitred Bubinga component pieces, replete with clever notching to facilitate the inset cross braces. A fine cage if I do say so myself.> Each piece signed and dated; ~30 copies made for sale. Ships assembled.

Dual Maze
Like William Hu's "Simultaneous Maze" puzzle , Tamás had made a sequel using two mazes and one pin. Vanyó's design uses an identical top and bottom plate to confuse and trick the solver. An excellent addition to your collection, and a must have to compliment the Simultaneous design. The cage connectors are shouldered and reinforced by lateral connectors. The sliding internal pin has a pair of magnets which keep the slider centered once the puzzle is solved, a nice detail which keeps the puzzle f...

Pleasure and Pain, aka Butterfly Lock Box - William Strijbos
#49 of 100This is a hefty aluminum puzzle with a very special lock. No force, no banging, no centrifugal moves. The object is to retrieve several items inside the puzzle, undo the lock, and then return everything to its original state. Very interesting mechanical design. The reason why this puzzle was titled "Pleasure and Pain" was because, in its original configuration, it was possible to get completely stuck. Solution included. Emergency key to get unstuck (which I purchased from Strijbos ...

9 Step Extreme - 2 Key Puzzle Lock
One panel of this lock is tight. From Puzzlemaster.ca original description:Made from solid metal, this Trick Lock is more complex than it appears, and unlike regular locks, a key is not the only answer. The hidden mechanism is deceiving and requires a more careful inspection to unlock it. These locks are hand made, there are slight variations in each lock. These are replicas of ancient Indian locks. They are made to look old but are brand new.
