Variation on a theme was Simon Dickersons exchange puzzle at IPP 19 in London, 1999.You will immediately recognise the tangram shapes, but...... on closer inspection several pieces are different, having some corners cut off.And that parallellogram is a misfit, it is too large! Designed and first released at IPP in 2009, Surround is closely related to the 3/4/5 cubes designs by Ichiro. In this case, six pieces must be used to surround the solid cube in such a way that is self-supporting. Two solutions using magnets are possible, with another "rule-breaker" solution that does not use magnets and covers the cube completely! This puzzle consists of 11 identically shaped pieces made from hardwood and metal rods. Essentially they are "F" pentominoes. The task is to fit them all in the tray which measures 8 units by 8 units.The wooden tray measures 7 1/4 inches to a side.

Diamond Burr was Juerg von Kaenels exchange puzzle at IPP 19 in London, 1999.The puzzle design consists of 3 identical pieces and 3 mirrored pieces, having diamond-shaped ends. Together they assemble into a burr of which I have no picture because I did not assemble it. This puzzle was stored disassembled and will be sent disassembled.One piece has a logo and #6.030 stamped in one end.Another piece has the IPP16 logo stamped in one end.

Engelberg Square Variation was Nick Baxters exchange puzzle at IPP 19 in London, 1999.Nick modified the original design by Stewart Coffin to add some torture.The solution is very tight, this was verified at 60% humidity so it may improve in a better environment.The puzzle can be shipped in the solved state if requested.

Surface was Jean Claude Constantins exchange puzzle at IPP 19 in London, 1999.25 cubes (2x2x2 cm) of 5 different woods, together with  8 aluminium bars (1x1x14 cm), make up a square surface.To complicate things a bit, 24 of the wooden cubes are attached to the aluminium bars. 1 cube is loose.Take apart the square, mix up the parts, and reassemble the square.This puzzle is still in its original shrink wrap.
