The pieces are bright red, thick stock with intersecting puzzle-tangs in the shape of hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs. This is in very good shape, with a couple of small corner-dings on a couple of the pieces. Fairly difficult to put them in the tray. Poor quality craftsmanship, however.
