Beautifully crafted, clever puzzle box.

Moves nicely. Upper and lower panels seem to have shrunk leaving .5mm gaps also a small abrasion on the right panel (see pictures). All in all a nice example of a Makishi box.

Made Brian Menold of Wood Wonder. Beautiful puzzle although some of the cubes have small chips out of the from the sawing process (see pictures of the worst of it). The contrasting woods display nicely.

The letters of ELIZABETH incorporated, along with four other nondescript connecting pieces, into a solid cube with no voids. Not fully interlocking (the letter pieces are all planar), in fact the wenge 'T' will fall away if the cube is inverted. Disassembly is therefore not difficult but reassembly without pictures or a very good memory most definitely is! Woods are wenge, padauk, oak, maple, mahogany, walnut, cedar, zebrawood. There are 5 pieces in the tray in this sliding block puzzle. The task is to move the tail of the arrow on the right to the left. This should be a simple move, but...This design was awarded the Grand Prize at the 1988 Hikimi Wooden Puzzle Competition.
