Stumbling Blocks is a brilliant puzzle that I've been wanting to make for a while. When Pit mentioned that he had a more difficult version I jumped at the chance to make it. Packing the four pieces into the frame is the goal, and the way to get there is amazing. Trifecta was Ken's entry for the 2015 IPP design competition. This is a prototype set of pieces for the DDD burr set crafted from aluminum by Bryan Turner. The pieces have the same notching patterns, but are 8 units long instead of the 6 unit production version. This change will prevent some of the possible assembly configurations possible with the production copies. Pack 3 is a wonderful little gem of a packing puzzle by Mr. Yamamoto. The three pieces fit inside a 3x3x2 box with a very unusual opening.  There are two solutions, one trivial and the other tricky. The trivial solution puts the pieces in the box, while the tricky and intended solution is to put the pieces in as an apparent 3x3x2 with no holes showing from the opening. I had already chosen the puzzles for the next update when Emil posted the Disguised and Camouflaged burr designs. I immediately contacted him for permission and squeezed them into the schedule because I thought the idea was so unique. Take a regular six piece burr but chop a piece or two in half and secure them. BOOM, now you have a traditional looking six piece burr puzzle that behaves very differently than usual. I used contrasting woods to give a visual hint of the unusual nature of these two...

This is the first 3x3x3 assembly with nine identical three unit pieces and a single solution. Groundbreaking work from Ry, nicely made with some of my better exotic wood stock. Special care was taken with the holes so they are crisp, sharp and centered. I'm very happy with the way this puzzle turned out.
