This is a remake of a classic Graeco-Latin square puzzle that originally appeared in 1888. The original puzzle, known as the "Giant Puzzle," was created by McLoughlin Bros in New York and was mentioned in Slocum and Boterman's "New Book of Puzzles" in 1992.
The puzzle consists of 25 wooden pieces, each with a color (yellow, red, natural, blue, or green) and a number (1, 3, 5, 7, or 9). The goal is to arrange these pieces in a 5x5 grid in the wooden tray without repeating colors or numbers in any row, column, or diagonal. Additionally, every row, column, and one major diagonal must add up to a total of 25. You can make the puzzle easier or more challenging by focusing on one, two, or all three of these rules.
