Eighteen-piece "Parcel Post" puzzle by Bill Cutler. From the collection of Dr. Benjamin Muckenhoupt, who purchased many prototypes and originals from Cutler. Top copy reads (as best I can tell):
PARCEL POST PUZZLE (Trade Mark)
Can you pack the basket?
Uncle (Sal's?) (date?) is waiting for one more basket of packages before starting to deliver the Parcel Post mail.
There is room for only a small basket which the cover of the box represents. All the packages (or blocks) must be taken from the big basket and packed neatly in the small basket (box cover) level with the top. It is bothering the mail clerk. Show him how to pack them.
IT CAN BE DONE (18 pieces)
(Copied from an original in Abel Garcia's puzzle collection. Original designer unknown. Copyright by Bill Cutler, 1980.)
Eric Fuller writes on Puzzle Place: "Although there are at least two known solutions, this is not an easy task, and will keep even the most skilled puzzler busy for some time."
Winning bidder will be invoiced for the total of the winning bid plus 4% handling fee plus shipping fee after the auction closes.
