This lot contains 3 sheared cubes, having the same solution shape but different pieces.
These were made by Y Hara in 1996 according to the accompanying paper. No further information about these puzzles is available.
The 'cubes' are distorted by exactly 45 degrees in only one direction, whichis very much.
Theoretically this would help the solve as several orientations are excluded for each piece.
Practically this is highly confusing during the solve, and requires a very different approach than your general cube packing puzzle.
All pieces are 3 units, but de to the sheared shape the amount of different shapes is obviously larger than 2. This makes solving much more interesting than solving a regular cube with 3-unit pieces. Highly recommended for puzzlers with a good spatial perception and 3D visualization.
In addition, each cube has a 3D checkerboard color pattern, which may make solving easier, but also reduces the number of valid solutions.
The finish is smooth and the red/green/blue colors are very bright.
The blue piecces are marked A through I with pencil, other pieces are unmarked.
