It is a sequentially interlocking puzzle, but not a burr as we know it.
This very nicely crafted puzzle comes apart in 6 different pieces, each made of several beautiful exotic woods. The solution shape looks like 24 gorgeous wooden sticks, but on closer inspection you will see that most apparent sticks are made of different woods at each end. That is a first clue to how this puzzle actually works.
The first piece that comes out is inscribed "1-18 H.Tamura", as seen in the second picture, spoiler-free.
Taking it apart is much more easy than putting it back together. A solution sheet is providede to come to the rescue if needed.
