Pack six identical pieces into the hexagonal box. Each piece is made from four rhombicuboctahedra. This puzzle looks quite different from the (large) version, but the solution is the same. Solving this puzzle is not difficult but requires some "out of the box"
thinking! This puzzle is mentioned in an article in CFF #108 (Cubism
For Fun).
This is the small(er) version, the rhombicuboctahera have a diameter of 16 mm.
This puzzle is impossible to make out of wood. OK, not impossible, but I have not found a woodworker interested in making both the pieces and box. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to make this puzzle on a 3D printer.
