A one-of-a-kind art masterpiece and complex puzzle cube, this Kcube Designs puzzle makes a stunning display piece that will amaze and confound. Kim Klobucher makes a small assortment of puzzles in extremely limited runs, and each puzzle is uniquely crafted to maximize aesthetic appeal with beautifully finished hardwoods from around the globe. Kim has produced fewer than 150 total puzzles for sale over the past 10 years, but his attention to detail and hours of workshop time show. The puzzle designs are not trivial either; Kim's designs have appeared in the IPP Design Competition no less than 5 times!
K-419 (23) is a sequential movement puzzle with a gravity pin that locks the first movable piece until the puzzle is oriented in the correct position. 419 moves to solve - a lot of moves for such a small puzzle.
Precision made of cocobola, blood wood, purple heart, goncalo alves, canary wood, ash, brass and stainless steel inlay with ebony. Includes original information and solution.
Kim Klobucher said: "Our puzzles are hand-made wood sequential movement puzzle boxes, and range in size from 2 1/8" square to 9" x 7" x 6". We use various hardwoods and also reclaimed woods when possible. The arrangement of the wood and brass inlay is unique for each puzzle.
A pin and groove system is used for the movement of the pieces in the sequential movement puzzle boxes which allows for a smooth movement of the pieces and also a maze-like movement pattern with various dead ends and traps to keep one from getting to the end where the lid comes off. Most of our puzzles also have gravity pins that lock various pieces depending upon which side of the puzzle is up or down."
