Description:
Contrary to present-day thinking, our Open
& Shut Case puzzle requires the solver to think "inside" the box.
To open the miniature metal briefcase requires the puzzler to perform a
series of steps in a specific sequence. When done correctly the case
will smoothly swing open. Frustrated puzzle solvers should note it is
unnecessary to remove the briefcase's hinge pins. A sharp ear, a light
touch, a keen mind and patience are the keys to this puzzle.
This is a very challenging puzzle. The functioning of the internal locking mechanism will not be readily apparent even when the puzzle has been solved. Until the steps are clearly understood, solving Open & Shut Case will remain a challenge.
Due to its complexity and the time required to build Open & Shut Case, only a limited number of them have been produced.
Open & Shut case was inspired by a series of briefcase puzzles by the imaginative American puzzle enthusiast Norman Sandfield, however, Livewire Puzzles' Open & Shut Case's internal locking mechanism represents a new design in trick box puzzles.
