Variation on a theme was Simon Dickersons exchange puzzle at IPP 19 in London, 1999.

You will immediately recognise the tangram shapes, but...

... on closer inspection several pieces are different, having some corners cut off.
And that parallellogram is a misfit, it is too large! What is going on here?

Don't panic, just pack the 7 pieces in the square tray.

This is a great puzzle to hand someone after they solve the tangram square.
