Description
I have made 9 sets of this design – this is number 4 – and I am not planning to make more of them for the present.
The Sunpetal (as most Gondos puzzles) is a caleido puzzle. The pieces of the puzzle can be set in different ways into their frame. As the player grows to understand the logic behind the game, he/she will be able to create newer and newer patterns of the assembled puzzle, which may be rotationally symmetrical as well as asymmetrical.
I had the Sunpetal cut from different woods with a laser cutting machine. It contains solid wood (purple heart) and plywood (beech, birch, poplar, meranti). The pieces have different colours owing to the fact that I use different types of wood, not because they have been painted.
After the pieces have been cut with laser, I wipe off the soot of each piece one by one, and then I use sandpaper to burnish their surfaces. I try to make it perfectly sootless, but this will never be perfectly sterile.
I live in Hungary. Designing puzzles is my hobby, which I have been following passionately for long. I occasionally organise events for students, where a few of them have tried solving my other puzzles.
I strive for beauty and playfulness.
Whoever may buy this set he/she will be my partner in design, because he/she has the chance to make a completely new assembling pattern, which I might have not even thought of.
