Description
This Stickman Moving Tile Puzzle Boxes (No. 15) is handcrafted from quality Paduk, Monterillo and Honduran Rosewood with a rich tung oil finish for an antique appearance. The lid to this unique puzzle box consists of 24 interlocking solid wood tiles, one of which comes out freely allowing the remaining tiles to be manipulated into a three-dimensional carved wooden picture. Solving the picture allows free access to the first secret compartment, and a second compartment can also be accessed with a few additional tricky moves. Traditionally, sliding tile puzzles have been two-dimensional, and adding a third dimension presents a beautiful and substantially more challenging twist to this traditional puzzle style.
.
There were four different versions to this puzzlebox line, and this box is the last remaining Acorn Rosette. It was never sold because the tiles of this box were a bit on the tight side. They are still a bit tight, but the tiles do move and the box is otherwise perfect. I am starting the bidding on this box for lower than the original sale price due to the tight tiles.
.
This box measure 6" x 4 ¼ " x 2 ½" and weighs slightly over 1 lb. It is a limited edition piece from a set of 35 and signed by the artist. (I do not recall the limited edition number, but it is on the first panel on the inside. I don’t want to solve the puzzle just to retrieve it.) This box also comes with its own set of instructions.
.
The first two pictures are of the acorn rosette version from the original website listing (The second pic is of it all messed up). These depict accurately what this box actually looks like. However, the third picture is of a "royal filigree" version in an open position and is only included to reveal an idea of what this box would look like when opened.
