Description
Aluminum Pawn puzzle, designed by Marcel Gillen, Puzzle Makers International. No Box. Photocopy of instruction sheet included. Mechanism works fine. Weighs 11.4 oz.
NOTE: Of the various Gillen chess pieces, the Pawn from B&P had a history of jamming internally; this one was no exception. The coin inside can get wedged between two moving surfaces and makes it nearly impossible to open. When I did finally get this one open, there was quite a bit of scoring on the aluminum surface of the internal shaft (see picture) which I de-burred with some sandpaper. Many of the scratches are still visible inside. I also installed a larger coin on top of the original coin inside to prevent the jamming from happening again. Currently, the puzzle works smoothly, doesn't jam, and looks good.
