Description

12 never- or slightly-used Exchange Puzzles from the 32nd International Puzzle Party, held in Washington D.C. in 2012. The puzzles are extremely varied in their classifications. Exchangers include the likes of perennial and prominent Puzzle Exchange participants Oskar van Deventer, Rik von Grol, Jerry Farrell, Wei-Hwa Huang, and William Waite, among others. Brief descriptions follow, but I am DELIGHTED to answer more specific questions about any of the puzzles. Note that all would be graded

and some have never been removed from their packaging.

PUZZLE DESCRIPTIONS:

Row 1:
Flying Saucer — designed and exchanged by the late great annual Exchange participant Jerry Farrell, made by prolific Exchange puzzle maker Walt Hoppe; goal is to make a "curve of constant width" from the 12 pieces.
The Pentagon Tiles — designed and exchanged by annual Exchange participant René Dawir, made by prolific puzzle manufacturer and designer Marcel Gillen; goal is to fit a certain combination of penta-tiles into the frame.
Calamity Lock — designed by long-time puzzle designer Doug Engel, exchanged by puzzle shop proprietor and annual Exchange participant Hendrik Haak, and made by Puzzleatomic; goal is to rotate the clock hands through the constraints of the colored ball bearing to set the time to 12 o'clock.
Mall Function — designed and exchanged by Rik van Grol, manufactured by prolific Dutch puzzle manufacturer Bottonius Puzzles; goal is to use the tiles to form an uninterrupted path between the monuments on the Washington DC Mall.

Row 2:
Symmetric Shape — another symmetry puzzle designed, exchanged, and manufactured by Puzzle Exchange master of symmetry Emrahan Halici.
Monumental Mystification — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by the late great perennial Exchange participant Lambert Bright; goal is to remove the ring from the Washington Monument.
Cold Fusion — designed and exchanged by the famous Oskar and manufactured by Shapeways; goal is to undo and then reassemble the six rings.
Balancing Act — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by long-time Puzzle Party attendee Chris Morgan; several challenges to build various minimum height structures.
Rectangle String Route — designed by the famous Japanese puzzle designer Tadao Muroi, exchanged and manufactured by the late great annual Puzzle Party attendee Saul Bobroff; two challenges to route the string through the rectangle.
Encircling the "X" Puzzle — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by the late Abraham Jacob; goal is to attach the ring to the "X" in a certain position.

Row 3:
Network Builder — designed, exchanged, and manufactured by genius and perennial Exchange participant Wei-Hwa Huang; 48 challenges (and their solutions) offered in an accompanying booklet.
Washington Skyline — designed , exchanged, and manufactured by regular Exchange participant William Waite; goal is to connect the pieces into a continuous loop to make a Washington D.C. skyline and the hidden faces of three U.S. presidents.

Note that all puzzles come as received at IPP32 with original packaging and information. Some of the puzzles come with solutions. For those that don't, I'm happy to email specific solutions from the IPP32 book to the successful bidder.

The combined weight of the puzzles is about 3.5 lbs (1.5 kg). I will ship within the US at tracked priority mail pricing for between $15 and $27, depending on postal code, or via ground advantage (first class mail) for between $11 and $18, depending on postal code. Regrettably, first class international mail is expensive, costing around $50 depending on country, and I cannot always guarantee that overseas packages can be insured or tracked. Please do not sent payment until postage cost is determined. Note, sadly, that tariff wars may be in effect for packages received in certain countries.
