Description
This is George Miller's 3-D printed version of the Moby Maze, not the later version sold by Hanayama.
George Miller's description: Moby Maze is probably the first maze built on a Moebius Strip. The Moebius strip is a circular band that has a one-half twist in it. This curiosity is a popular mathematical curiosity since the shape has only one side! This property is fully exploited in Oskar's design. You have to push the ring around twice to get it to the "other side". The solution is not too difficult to uncover, however, playing with this puzzle is very satisfying and graphically illustrates the one-sided nature of the Moebius strip.
Moby Maze was very difficult to build since the 3-dimensional modeling program used to design the puzzle struggled with the idea of a three dimensional object having only one side. Oskar managed to convince the program that such an object was possible and worthy of building. We can now present it to you for your own enjoyment.
