the Bits And Pieces version of a planar burr coin release puzzle by George Miller, based on a design by Oskar van Deventer called the Nine-And-A-Half-Moves puzzle.
this is surprisingly tricky to both open and close, though i'm not quite sure how many moves it takes. the official number may be '9.5', but according to my old sketch it seems to be twelve, excluding the final move made by gravity that drops the coin into your lap. i'm probably counting moves differently than most.
the buffalo nickel used for scale here is the coin that comes in the puzzle.
