Description

This is Michael Toulouzas' Fairy Door. I ordered it about 2014 and received it around 2019. It's a discovery puzzle, finding tools to procede further, and I quite enjoyed solving it. However, I tend to keep my house at about 65 degrees most of the time, and this box definitely prefers about 70 degrees if you want it to open. At 65 degrees F, the main latch mechanism binds up so it won't open up. This isn't a defect, it's just a characteristic of the woods used in making the puzzle. It's a beautiful puzzle and marvelously crafted, but deserves a better home.

If you purchase the puzzle, there is also a dangerous step (a wrong step) that the solver might make that you should be aware of; there's a brass rod that can be pushed into a certain hole in the puzzle and it can go in so far that it can't be recovered. So, be forewarned.

The Fairy Door weighs in at a hefty 5 lbs. 1 oz., without the packaging, so expect postage to be high.
