Culax --- CUbe Labyrinth AXes --- was designed by the late great Markus Götz of Germany, and was Markus' exchange puzzle at the 23rd International Puzzle Party (IPP23) held in Chicago in 2003. In Markus' words, "This puzzle consists of two pieces: a cube and an axis of coordinates. The cube itself consists of square rods presenting a maze. Three of its outer faces have been given colored marks, which uniquely identify the position of the axes of coordinates inside of the cube, by matching the marks with the colored balls. The objective is to put the axes into the cube so that the rods come from the inside to the outside at the position marked with the colors, matching the colors of the balls." Note that this is the ORIGINAL Culax puzzle as designed and made by Markus for IPP23. Subsequent versions of the puzzle made no distinctions between the three axes (all of the balls were colored red), making for a much easier puzzle. The paperwork packaged with the puzzle includes the solution on the reverse side. |
