Description
This is an original Cubigami prototype handmade by George Miller. It was later commercialized by Recent Toys. Here is George's description:

Cubigami is a folding puzzle consisting of 18 squares stitched together. The object is to fold the squares together to form one of 7 shapes. The shapes are all the ways four cubes can be stacked together. In essence there are 7 different puzzles.

This puzzle was dreamed up by George Miller. However, Prof. Donald Knuth was the person who analyzed the problem and found the unique 6x6 pattern which could be folded into all 8 ways four cubes can be assembled (called tetracubes). Note: one of the tetracubes, the square, only has 16 sides and therefore cannot be made with this 18 square puzzle.

The puzzle is made of transparent acrylic squares which are stitched together using ultra strong dental bands. This allows each one of the seven solutions to stand on its own.

Cubigami won an Honorable Mention in the 2005 World Puzzle Contest held in Helsinki.
