Description
From Pyrigan:
Theodore Edison, youngest son of the famous inventor, invented a very clever puzzle in 1932 which I have reproduced in laser-cut acrylic. The goal is to use all of the twelve red pieces to make a well-formed rectangle (no overlaps, no gaps. etc.) and a significant part of the puzzle is just figuring out what the dimensions of that rectangle should be.
My reproduction consists of a tray, twelve puzzle blocks in red, and three "spacer" blocks in blue. The tray has two layers, a top layer in green and a bottom layer in orange. The original puzzle was sold in three different versions that were all identical (same size puzzle blocks, same rectangular box, same instructions) except that the "spacer" blocks for keeping the twelve puzzle blocks snugly in place were different. My reproduction includes all three "spacer" pieces. They provide the extra challenges of fitting the puzzle blocks, *plus* one of the spacer pieces, back into the rectangular frame.
You can read more about it on my blog post here: https://pyrigan.com/2019/07/28/the-calibron-twelve-block-puzzle/
