Description
This is a very rare version of the very special boxes Mr. Okiyama made in the 6 sun 54 move size. Only 12 of these very rare boxes were made. A couple of the boxes I was able to obtain had minor problems with the Yosegi (in one or 2 of these boxes the Yosegi didn't line up on one end of the boxes near the Kannuki) I am not going to sell the box with this very minor problem. They all open like Mr. Okiyama's boxes and make the great "Pop" after each series of moves allows the various pieces to move in the order Mr. Okiyama designed when he made the "Dabo" for these boxes. (the Dabo is the part of the inner box that has the design cut into it which the Kannuki follows as the Kannuki pieces move out and.in.allowing the ends to move both up and down as is necessary to open the box and expose the hidden secret) These boxes came in a Paulownia protective presentation box and they help keep the box in perfect condition. The instructions are in color written on a very unique washi paper and come wrapped in a cloth to further protect the box. The cloth has to be folded in a way that makes it fit into the box and after some prectice it becomes as easy as Origame to fold, OK the folds are creased into the cloth from time but are very helpful to see the correct way to fold the cloth for storage. The boxes are made of Katsura and are stamped with Mr. Okiyama's Honko along with the size of the box and number of moves are written on the top inside of the protective box using a brush by Mr. Okiyama in the calligraphy stylization so important for a box such as these. Mr. Okiyama didn't make many boxes with single pattern yosegi designs I have seen this box in Kuroasa and believe that only 15 were made in this yosegi design, a yosegi design called Kiritigai and one other pattern I am not familiar with. This box is one of the best boxes from the group of 11 that were sold in the USA, one was kept in a private collection in Japan. This is a very rare opportunity to obtain one of these very special boxes in this unique yosegi design that Mr. Okiyama used on only on a select few boxes the 12 6 sun 54 move boxes and 36 of the 5 sun 27 step boxes. Best of luck to You.
