The
"The Great Centaurian Puzzle"
is puzzle trade card which dates from 1881 — as discerned from the calendar on the back of the card (see second photo) — thus making it 145 years old! The card is in BEAUTIFUL condition; I would rate it as "museum quality." The object is to cut the card (DON'T DO IT!) along the given lines into twelve pieces, and then form a square from the twelve. This card was used to advertise the Centaur Recipe Book, and was given away by a drug store in Rhode Island. The card measures
4 in x 6 1/2 in (10 cm x 16 cm), and would make a FINE addition to an antique puzzle collection. A similar card, in poorer condition, is listed currently on ebay for $62.50, reduced from the original asking price of $250!
I will ship within the US at non-machinable first class letter pricing (around $4.00). I am happy to ship internationally at cost (around $10–15), but I cannot always guarantee that overseas letters can be insured or tracked. Please do not send payment until the postage cost is determined. Note, sadly, that tariff wars may be in effect for packages received in certain countries.
