This reproduction of the Kamei Octagon box is very tricky to open. It's seen better days...there are a couple cracks in the miters, and it can be a little tight in high humidity. However the mechanism works fine and it's a pretty fun box to tackle with an interesting solution. CM13; Andreas Röver designed it and I bought it from him at IPP29. It's an unusual coordinate motion puzzle in that it just doesn't slide straight apart, there's actually 3 or 4 coordinate moves to get it apart. Now the bad news; fairly high friction; even if you know how it comes apart, it's still difficult. And one of the pieces was apparently glued together (see pic) by the folks who manufactured this for Andreas. It's a solid glue job (hasn't come apart), but not the cleanest in the world. ...
