Two-Piece Oddity
Eric says:Sometimes I end up spending more time on a puzzle then I can possibly recover in the sale price...usually because I want to try something new, or because the way to do it right is time consuming. This puzzle is one of those items! The reason is the cage...because of its design, I was worried about the solidity if I simply cut and glued the pieces together. So, I dissected it into a combination of lap and mortise / tenon joints, somewhat like a Japanese kimuki puzzle. In its finished fo...

Mathesis Puzzle Box - Geoff Brown
Mathesis Puzzle Box made by Geoff Brown of Canada. Measures 3 15/16" x 3 15/16" x 3 15/16" (10cm x 10cm x 10cm). From the included solution pamphlet:"This box is handmade from Canadian black walnut and I believe that you will find that it meets the highest standards of confoundity and misdirection. Though its design and materials are of a very primitive sort, I have taken the utmost care to assemble them in as confusing a manner as I could devise. Lacking in much appeal to any other faculties, ...

Exploding Ball Puzzle
Assemble ten identical pieces (plus a small icosahedron) into a 5 cm
diameter ball. This puzzle was 3D printed by Shapeways and dyed in 5
colors by me. The core is a Game Science D20 die (included). This
puzzle was designed by Stephen Chin, based on a Wayne Daniel puzzle. In 2010, the wooden version won an
award in the IPP puzzle design competition. It is difficult to achieve a good fit with these puzzles. Even the exact same CAD file printed by Shapeways two weeks apart fit differently ...

Christmas Star
One of my earliest purchases from Mike (2008) this is another great rhombic dissection. Made of zebrawood, the finish is not perfect but there are some wild angles in there and the fit and slide are very nice.

Puzzle Splines
Sugar maple with pink ivory splines, this is an unusual puzzle. Interlocking but not solid, the central, dodecahedral space contains a little surprise which, I think, was made by Mike's daughter.

There at least two solutions to this puzzle. It is rated moderate in difficulty. In 2014, Mark McCallum made a limited production of about 20 Octo Burrs in dif...
